WHAT WE DO
When Kel first started podcasting it was with her writing mentor, author and co-host Pamela Cook. Together they created the podcast Writes4Women. From this they received a grant from CreateNSW to record regional writing festivals around NSW and thus Writes4Festivals was born. A podcast dedicated to showcasing the diverse writing talent that exists in our regional communities and quite often gets overshadowed by the muscle of the bigger, brighter festivals.
As a result Listen Up Podcasting has become a bit of a specialist in recording and releasing writing festivals
“While literary festivals introduce readers to new authors and often profile emerging writers at a critical stage in their career, they also build community between writers and other members of the literary community.”
Gwen Benaway – CBC Arts
And now Listen Up have started making podcasts for the festivals themselves.
In 2018 Writes4Festivals recorded:
- Feminist Writers Festival
- National Young Writers Festival
- Mudgee Readers Festival
- Scone literary Festival
- Storyfest Launch
In 2019 Writes4Festivals will also be recording and participating in the first ever Storyfest in Milton from June 21-23.
Kel Butler will be conducting a Podcasting Fundamentals Workshop on June 23rd and Pamela Cook will be on Panel throughout the weekend with some of the best authors Australia has to offer.

We are always looking for new regional writing festivals to explore.
So if you have a festival that you think you could use a podcast…
If you want to get your festival out to more people and provide a resource for others…
If you think your festival has important things to say but not enough people to hear them…
